I just hope the cops in your area will take the time to tracker her down as some departments no longer will follow up on things like this.

Budget cuts, increases of calls and low staffing are taking their toll on some of what departments can and will do anymore.

I have a friend who is a city cop. I'll call him this weekend or next week. He will follow it up.

I wish I had gotten a pic of her but when I was talking to the cops on my cell she said she was leaving and got in her car. I grabbed the pic of the plate.

It IS a crime to leave the scene of an accident.

I also take that route every day M-F to pick up my son from school. I'll keep an eye out for her!

Now the disturbing thing was while I sat half on the grass and half in the road waiting for the cops, I watched almost 20 people run the red light in a half hour period . Cops would have a field day there.

also saw an SUV on it's side after I picked up my daughter from day care this evening, almost got broad sided on the highway on our way to the grocery store as a guy in a beat up Neon decided he wanted to be where we were.....nobody to my left so I scooted out of the way.

I was just happy to get home and park the car. and have a beer.

ugh, that is horrible.

And yeah, it is illegal to leave, it's called a Hit and Run! can't believe she took off.

Here in Indiana we don't have red light cameras (although they just passed a thing to get them) and people run them all the time. I liked the peace of mind knowing that if I was cutting a light close (usually because no way to stop safely) that I wasn't going to get a ticket. We'll see how it goes once the cameras go up. I know everyone thinks the people where they live drive like crap, but the worst I have experience so far is here in Indiana.

Just got a ticket in the mail , and went on chicago web site to view a video of me going threw a red light. $100.00 fine, not a moving violation.
Best part of the video, it shows the 6 inches of snow on the unplowed intersection , and my ss passing less than 1/2 sec. into red, after a 3 sec. yellow, with my brake lights on the whole time. I remember the day , because of all the flashes that went off. (said to myself, i know i'm not gonna get a ticket for that, sure as shi_ ,please send us $100.00 and thanks for your support - i don't thinkk so. Dale jr. could not have stoped on that road in that amount of time. so i'm fighting it , i think their video shows that it is not a justified ticket .
RED LIGHT CAMS SUCK ! Just my 2 cents.

We've had red light cameras for about three years now (at least.) I saw a story on the news today about the camera implementation and they claim it has reduced accidents at those intersections by 50%. Seems as though they work pretty well in reducing accidents due to people running red lights. They said that right angle (t-bone) and rear end accidents were down.

As for the deductible, I know with my insurance company there is no deductible if it is a hit and run accident. Maybe your insurance will be the same?

What a difference here , There was just an story in the chicago sun times -reporting crashes are up at intersections with cameras, because drivers learn were they are, and instead of getting your picture and a 100 fine in the mail, they slam there brakes on at that last second, and cause an accident. Seems it's not working so great here. ( in i'm in a hurry land )

seems like these cars are known for getting hit in the rear ..... I have to take my back in to the shop on monday because they put it back together wrong and the bottom of the hatch/lift gate rubs the bumper because they set the bumper too high.....now they have to repaint the bumper, again.....glad no one is hurt

Your not kidding. I have seen more HHR hit and most times it is not the HHR's fault.

IS there something that makes us a target?

If I had to guess, it's probably the tiny little tail lights that look so cool and retro.... Look cool like the cars from the 50's, but they're little like them too!
