Hatch ruubing on rear bumper!!

The hatch on my HHR SS was rubbing on the rear bumber because again the operater in mexico failed to install 2 clips on the bumper. the hatch scratched the bumper because the centre of the bumper buckled on the top where the hatch meets. dealership had to install 2 clips and repair scratches. all is fine now, but the quality coming out of Mexico should be closely looked at by GM.
Seems alot of petty things are being missed at this plant.

It would be interesting to see the difference in labor costs if the HHR was built state side. Then compare the labor cost against the warranty costs and see if they if they are saving money by assembling south of the boarder.

Don't forget to put a price on customer satisfaction and factor that in.

I have bought two HHR's (2006 & 2008) and have had manufacturing issues with both, although minor.

Ive owned an '06 and '08. My '06 was absolutely perfect... no problems whatsoever. This '08 stuff is just an inside company problem. Lack of leadership and yes it is much cheaper to produce in Mexico. I wonder how much the shipping costs for a vehicle made in Taiwan would be!

When you say "much", how much is it?

Not sure... but the U.S. and Can. dollar are fairly even and with wages, health care and other agreements between union and company. The mexican plants have to be more profitable, but if they aren't producing a well made vehicle the public will let G.M. know by sales and word of mouth. The Camaro will be built in my home town in Sept/08. The G.M. auto plants here build quality vehicles, JD power has voted these plants as the best or near best in the western hemisphere. This rating should be a concern to G.M. in Mexico.
