Hello this site is amazing , please help me

08 SS why can I not find a suspension kit for the FE5
I don’t have issues with buying these others that state they will fit for the non ss models. Found out on here that many kits won’t work. So what is everyone using for the ss ??????

Piece together the parts you need, then check with us if those parts actually fit your SS , be aware or ball joints that are incompatible and coil springs that are to high and soft!

You can't find a kit because there is no kit that is correct for HHR FE5. There are no quick struts. The correct ball joints only just recently became available separately. Previously, you'd have to buy the complete control arm, and it had to be Genuine GM. The ball joints are now available from https://www.overthetopperformance.co...LNF_p_295.html

Don’t forget ZZP has LCA’s with the correct FE5 LNF Ball joints.

The price should be the 1st clue that kits are junk. And stupid. Why replace original parts that will surely outlast the junk in the kit?

OEM springs are better and more corrosion resistant than the aftermarket. Many stories of aftermarket spring breaking and/or rusting.

The OEM struts are unobtainable, KYB is a passable budget substitute. There are Koni cartridges, I think. "Coilovers" are an option but mostly for the track.

You probably don't need lower control arms, just the rear bushings. Use these from Moog:

PS - My answer to the poll is "none of the alove." Just get under there and figure out what's bad. Buy the parts. When you get into the job and find other bad parts, Buy some more parts. Don't replace good parts. Dampers need to be replaced in pairs. Also, brake pads. Maybe rotors. Nothing else.

Wheel hubs should be in pairs, and are SS specific, different voltage in the wheel speed sensor.
