hey 5speed guys...get in here!!!

anyone having trouble shifting while doing "spirited" driving??? what i mean is,while in battling another car, going from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th results in a "no gate" feel. to get it back in the gate, you have to slow down and move the shifter to N. to descibe what i'm talking about feels like...it's nothing there. just a sloppy shifter. will the aftermarket short throw fix this??? the only way to avoid this is to granny shift.

The only time i've ever had an issue is with the no lift shift between the 1-2 shift. I don't do it that often so it's not a big deal.

I've had this problem shifting from 2nd to 3rd. On a couple of occasions I've felt like I hit a wall instead of 3rd...takes a second to get it to go in.

Ive had it happen once or twice going from first to second. It takes a little bit to figure it out. You have to get a feel for the car and play the clutch a little bit and you will get better after a while so you wont be hitting the "wall". Good Luck to ya

One of the shifter cable blocks may have slipped out of the holder by the shifter. (Don't know the exact terms)

I removed the trim cover around the shifter and pressed down firmly on the the block like pieces where the cable comes into the shifter. They snapped into place and the difference is night and day.

My car would shift OK during normal shifts but when I got on it and shifted fast/hard the cable blocks would move, negating the shift.

It's most likely the cable to the tranny, at least it was on mine. Mine got to the point it wouldn't shift into 1st or 2nd. I took it to the dealer and they said the cable was fraid. They put a temporary fix on it and I'm still waiting for the new part to come in. The shifter in these things really sucks!

I hate my shifter for spirited shifting, even ground it going into 3rd once as I went to pass someone. Missed the shift and the opportunity to pass the guy. Really ticked me off. Wondering if the shift kit I've seen posted would fix this?

The TWM Shifter is an improvement, but It still does not shift like a Honda that is for sure. Making sure the cables (clip locations) are dialed in is important, but not a cure. Maybe the guys that are succesful at drag racing can offer some techniques for consistent high rpm shifting.

this sounds more logical to what's going on. do they still pop out on you???

No problems shifting at all since I seated the blocks. I'm guessing they may have been loose from day one.

The only time I had problems shifting before finding the loose blocks was when the speed adrenaline was flowing! 1000% better now.
