HHR SS bashing?

Well I was reading this blog and the HHR SS bashing seems a bit unwarranted. A guess being that I own one I felt defensive here, but I think its one of the greatest everything cars ever built.

Wow that writers kind of a tool. The fact the the HHR SS/Cobalt SStc have 260 hp make it worthy of the SS badging IMO. The only I thought didn't deserve the SS badging was the Cobalt SS 2.4. It's still a decent car but should have not had the SS on it. When the turbo Cobalt came out they finally change the 2.4 from SS to just Sport which makes a lot more sense cause it still has the performance suspension.

In the eyes of many the SS and 2.0 Turbo should have been on many other vehicles before a HHR. Lets face it Pontiac was GM's performance division and should have had a 2.0 Turbo in the G6 and G5 long before the HHR. I imagine they would have sold a lot more G6 with this driveline.

As for The HHR being SS worthy I have owned a 68 Chevelle SS and a 72 GMC Sprint SP [El Camino SS]. Both were far less as fast in stock form as my HHR SS and did not ride or handle as well.

I love my SS and GM created a car that was not really called for but I enjoy. But I do wish GM had also used this powertrain in cars that really needed it. I see the 2010 Regal will get a 220 HP version soon.

Opinions are a dime a dozen so I would not get too worked up over this. The HHR SS will be a treasure in the future. I remember they cut down the Superbirds for their styling in 1970 and today everyone wants one. Some times it take time for things to be appreciated.

I'm not worried about what others think about the SS HHR because Iknow that it's my first sleeper car. People at work love it and just are amazed how quick it is. I loved my 98 Z28 and even though it was much much faster than any HHR SS, I find driving the HHR much more fun to drive and my friends agree. I haven't yet found anyone to bash it other than a couple of ricer neon guys back at a car show, but I schooled them hard. I also feel that the replacement for the HHR will not be loved the same way.

I hope the post up what I wrote.
I think the writer needs to gain a brain cell. The Camaro SS isn't the only GM car to sport the SS badge. The HHR is one of Chevy's best selling vehicles as well. The fact that the SS HHR can trap 14.0 @ 99mph + in the 1/4 mile in stock form, haul 4 adults comfortably, get 30+ mpg and haul all your stuff as well makes it worthy of the SS badge.

Some people are not very well informed on some of the cars they write and talk about. Everyone has their favorites, and think their drivers are better than others[which is not usually the case].
Being a custom painter/Artist, former race car driver, ect. I have had and been around and worked on many cars[lots of GM stuff too]. I'm really into cars.
Yeah, some of GM's stuff, should never had the SS badge, and there for awhile they got a little too carried away, badging some of their junk with the SS badge[to try and sell more cars].
I have[soon to be sold] a 1996 Impala SS, that definately deserved the SS badge, and after putting about 3000 miles and wringing it out hard, my new 09 HHR-SS, most definately deserves the SS badge. I've tricked out the Impala[as I do all my stuff], and the HHR-SS will give the Impala a run for it's money in handing and go. HHR-SS gets a lot better gas mileage to boot.
Now that GM is dropping the SS badge for awhile, maybe they will pick a deserving car in the future to put the SS badge on next time.
The more I drive the HHR-SS, the better I like it. It's a little rough around the edges[which I am finding and fixing as best I can] little noisier on some roads, few squeeks and rattles, seems to kinda jump over bumps at times, but over all it's one hell of a fun ride. Can you say "Sleeper"?
Already lining up some mods, as it is a keeper.
P.S. already handed a couple of "Ricers" and a "Stang their A--, and they more more than a little surprised, at the "little Black hatch, that blew their doors off'.
Enough-Later "Moon"

I remember the 80's Monte Carlo/El Caminio SS with a 305 in it. The SS was just an appearance package for that one. In our case though, the SS definitely means something. I badged mine to further add to the sleeper aspect.

I believe it was a cousin of the great PT Barnum who once said, "there's a seat for every ass and an ass for every seat."

Don't get too worked up about someone else's opinion about your car. Their ass may not be for your seat. Remember, somebody actually liked the Pontiac Aztek, the AMC Pacer (and Pacer Wagon!), etc.
