AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Dodge announced pricing today for the latest addition to Chrysler's popular Street and Racing Technology (SRT)(R) vehicle lineup - the all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4(R).
Boasting 285 horsepower, 265 lb.-ft. of torque and a 0-60 mph time in the low 6-second range, the all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 is available for $22,995, which includes $560 for destination. The 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 once again delivers the SRT mission of benchmark performance at the lowest price.

The all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 showcases the renowned, five key aspects of any SRT vehicle: exterior styling that resonates with the brand image; race-inspired interiors; world-class ride and handling characteristics across a broad range; benchmark braking; and standout powertrain. The all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 unquestionably delivers in all five areas.
Exterior styling includes an aggressive SRT stance, a front fascia with functional brake cooling ducts and a larger grille opening. The unique hood features a functional air scoop enhancing underhood cooling. A large integrated spoiler above the rear glass is tuned for smoother air flow and lift reduction. The LS HHR starts at $16.5 MSRP.
The top of the line Caliber R/T is about a grand lower than the HHR 2LT(before options). Dodge's are always cheaper to buy, but you get what you pay for. The quality is just not there.
I'm betting the SS will start at $24-25K. Probably closer to $25K.

Competition is good.
The Caliber SRT4 has more HP and starts at $23K.
I like the sound of that, sounds better than the $25K base price, which has been quoted by someone's Chevy dealer as their estimated MSRP base price of the HHR SS.

I just went in a maxed out a Caliber and an HHR. Some options are available on one and not the other (towing for instance). But I added everything (except AWD) to both (2007 models). Cost:
Caliber, $26.298
HHR, 26.219
Both were blue BTW.

You gotta remember that when the Hemi first cam back in the 1/2 ton market, they were rated at 345HP, higher than any other truck, yet, cheaper to boot. Made for good sales. Bad resale value.

From that product description the Caliber sounds like one hella vehicle.
Not big on the styling in general but I almost think it might have the HHR beat, if you were to compare them based on the two product descriptions.

I would agree, but I'm willing to bet that the HHR SS sells better due to the fact that it has an available automatic transmission. Hell, my dad works for Chrysler (so I get the best employee discounts), and I STILL won't be getting a Caliber SRT4 because it doesn't have an automatic for the wife.
