HHR SS Stage 1 vs. Hyundai Genesis V-6

At the doctor's office this morning, I read a Motor Trend article on the Hyundai Genesis. It seems its HP is comparable to the SS, while the torque is not ( 290 HP/264 lb. ft.), yet the Genesis costs about $8K more. Granted, the Genesis is more luxury than the SS, but I don't see how one could justify the cost differential.

I wouldn't buy one if it was $8k less than the HHR SS.
Why? Because it's a Hyundai.

I used to think that way. Hyundai has a bad rep, much better now, but resale still lags. They give you a lot of bang for your buck though and now build cars comparable to anyone.

I have been in the Genesis. It is not what I would call a luxurt car. Nice a good value but not a luxury car.

For less money a Camaro V6 304 HP can be had and is in my view the better value With the RS package a down right great value. But if your an import fan the Hyundia gives you something affordable with RWD.

It is kind of hard to compare the Genesis with the HHR SS as they are not the same kind of vehicle not in the same class and not even the same drive configuration. Pretty much apples and oranges.

Besides the Turbo 4 Genesis is closer in drivetrain if you have to compare.

I have spent time in all three and they are each nice but the HHR SS is just a totally different vehicle.

The problem with Hyundia is they are dumping cars on rental lots to replace GM and others who pulled out of the market. This is killing the resale and will make it even worse. Just look at G6 and Grand Prix resales due to fleet sales.

Hyundia sales have been good compared to the rest of the market but they don't tell you many of these are due to fleet sales.

Kia is doing the same.

Hyundia is not the best car on the market but is a good reliable, affordable car and is just what the maket is looking for in times like this.

My girl friend just bought an 09 Hyundia Santa Fe limited AWD and I must say they have come along way. Very nice CUV but her's was $42000 on the road so not so cheap. But the ride is nice and so far no problems. I like driving it when I'm not in the mood to shift :)

Ditto... and expanded to 'To hell with anything not American' I am a Chevy lover at heart, but my family was high in Ford's Exec ranks through the 60's and very early 70's. I am so happy to hear that Ford got a buy rating on their stocks today.

GM's Mistakes.... HHR SS and Cobalt SS should have been rear wheel drive. GM is wondering why these asian small sport coupe cars are all moving to RWD. Are we this slow?
