I only had a couple problems right when i bought it and i figure its because i got the car wwith 37 miles on it and the person before me must have taken it for a wild test drive. Now i have about 6000 miles on it and it hasnt been back to the dealer since about 2 weeks after iu bought it which was back in June

 

I also had this although they called it a blown turbo coolant bypass. Took them 11 days to get the part and 12 before I got the car back.

'06 LT1 with about 40K miles. Other than a stuck key fix, no problems with the car. I keep looking at the '09s, but since I have a trouble free car that gets great gas mileage, I'm hesitant at getting another.

 

My heart goes out to you and hate to see someone have issue like this.

But as of yet I have not had any issues other than the brake issue that has only happened a couple time.

Holy mackerel. You got that one nailed. I had to drive a Yugo once that absolutely wouldn't go into 1st or 2nd gear, even with the extra long throw shifter option. Ever try a 3rd gear start on a car with 60 HP? Worst POS I ever had the misfortune of driving.

 

I drove a 1988 Yugo GV for years. It was only my second car. It was a Fiat design made in Yugoslavia. No frills but way more reliable than my first car (a 1983 Ford Escort). For what I could afford at the time, around 1990-ish, it served me well. In all fairness, the manual brakes were more reliable than those of my HHR SS. I am looking forward to the vacuum pump & canister fix. It was only a 1.3-liter engine, but it was a very light car. I drove it from DC to WA, and got it up over 100mph on long stretches of highway (although it did take a while to get up to that speed.)

 

Right on. I had a co-worker that had Yugo that was so bad it was comical. He had large letters across the back that said "I HATE MY YUGO AND NO ONE WILL BUY IT OR STEAL IT" He would always leave the keys in it and unlocked, finally paid a junk yard $50 to take it.

 

I didn't mean to hijack savello's thread and switch it to Yugo's. I worked at a dealer that sold them so I know the nightmares people went through.

savello, sorry to hear of the problem. Hindsight is 20/20 and we can't change what has already happened. But I think the hose blew first, then it got hot and the head gasket gave out.

To anyone who cares to listen. Don't drive a vehicle with a coolant smell. If you smell coolant it's leaking and there will be more damage done by continuing to drive it.

 

This was no hijack it was just proof it could be worse.
