Is the HHR the worst made vehicle ever?

It's not the worst but the kwality is lacking. I'm pushing the point where I'm regretting buying mine.

Multiple headliner rattles, took the dealer for a ride and they "didn't hear anything" when I pointed them out. The damn brakes squeal in reverse. The engine almost revs up like crazy after I start the car from sitting about 2 hours. The lower leading edge of the doors are within 2mm's of the ground affects that when it's snowy out the ice scrapes and leaves marks on it. The tailgate never shuts the first time, even if you slam it. My steering wheel squeaks now. The rear wiper sucks, dealer says they are all like that. Nice. I have only 7500 miles on her.

I'm keeping this car for 4 years. Then it's gone.

My 86 Honda Accord had less issues than this car, even when it had 200K miles on it. My wifes 2002 Odyssey has had 1 radio and a door motor in 80K miles. No squeaks, no rattles, no gripes at all. It just works. I understand mass production but I have had it.

I hate to say it but GM has lost me as a customer as did Ford & Jeep. I've owned more GM cars than anything else and the majority save for my 2000 Trans Am which has had 4 radios.....have had all had a lot of problems.

I should have bought the Civic Si. It's a shame because despite the issues I do love the car. It's comfy, it hauls stuff and @ss.

The odds of getting a new car with problems are pretty much the same across the board. Even a Honda. Edmunds gives the HHR and the Civic identical consumer ratings of 8.9.

FINALLY I'm not the only one with rocker pannel issues. I still have to get mine in to get repainted and fitted though.

Aside from the start up brake issue and an occasional head liner rattle...no issues in 6 mo and 6k in miles.

The headliner is a common problem and that start up brake issue has a work around now but you have to complain up a storm to get it fixed with the vac pump.

If I where you Sneezy I would try another Dealer. One who cares about their customers.

Any chance of more info? My carpets mildewed after a big leak in the firewall where a worker forgot a 5-cent grommet. I asked for new carpet, since the carpet had been waterlogged for months (unknowingly, because it was waterlogged beneath all-weather mats). I was told repeatedly that the carpet could not be removed. Any info would be very helpful.

and a leak that has yet to be fixed. what about the BBB? if mine doesn't get fixed i plan to sue, it is a health hazard , as well as a nusance , as well as breach of contract- ie - the gm warrantee. sounds like a pretty good case. my hhr is the largest investment i have ever made . if the government is backing them , i'll sue them as well. my health is nothing to be sneased at. maybe all owners with wet carpet should get together. i don't understand what is wrong with these dealers. doesn't gm pay them to fix this stuff. they should give the new carpet , a free oil change , and a very big appology. i think i need to see a doctor.
