Hood Alignment Question by MR. ANAL...

well some of you already know how ANAL I really am, and so the saga continues........
While cleaning out the garage and getting ready for a flee market, I had the SS parked outside, actually in front of me while I was at the table just gazing at the SS.....and then I noticed that the gap on the passenger side hood line to the front of the vehicle, seems to be slightly wider than the gap on the driver's side hood line where it meets the top of the fender towards the front.
Giving it the thumb test and after closer inspection, it is wider. Now of course only I would pick something like that out....
My question is; would there be an adjustment that would either lower or raise the gap on either side, so that they would be uniform? And without throwing anything else dout of alignment in the process. I know on the SSR they had the front bumpers to adjust the hood, but if adjusted incorrectly, the hood would develop some vibration. I just may leave well enough alone, but then again being MR. ANAL, well you know how that goes!!!

if you look closely, you will see what I am talking about, there is a difference in the gap.....look at the top of the fenders....

Looks like to me that the hood just isn't lined up correctly. If you look where the grill meets the bumper, the gap on the driver's side is greater than the gap on the passenger's side. I say ask your dealer if they can help.

I can definitely see it. That is also something that would bother me. Since the car is new I would recommend just taking it in to the dealer. While many things we find on the car we can do ourselves. If we mess something up that can put the warranty at risk (if serious enough) I say if it's not out of your way, let the dealer handle it.

Don't have a SS, but should be the same as the reg. HHR. Isn't there a rubber bumper that the hood sits on that is adjustable? Maybe you could just adjust it down to take out the gap. Just a thought.

update...update....

went out and checked under the hood, thought I saw those adjustment "stops" there. Now the question is whether to raise or lower whichever "stop" to be correct. Have to find out the correct factory gap.
Should be a simple process

Maybe a little adjustment of both will help it out to looks the best. Good luck.

you are correct, but it is the passenger side that has a wider gap, look again

I know I should, but it may just be a simple adjustment

Once I get the correct gap, I will make adjustments ever so slightly and mark the "stops" and the amount adjusted in case I have to revert back to the original adjustment. Thanks

I saw the gap above the fender and you are correct. However the gap that I am talking about is where the grill meets the bumper indention. In your picture there is little to no gap on the side without a steering wheel and on the side with the steering wheel there appears to be about a 1/4 inch or better gap. I think you just didin't read what I said closely enough. Sorry for the misunderstanding...
