How difficult to change out running board?

How difficult to change out running board?
The dealer agreed that the running board on my SS was a factory mistake. Ground effects ordered for the left side. Is it difficult to change over, is it simply an unbolt, bolt operation? I don't feel like leaving the SS with the paint shop. I would just like them to paint the new part, and install it myself.
Has anyone had experience with removal and installation of the running boards & ground effects??? thanks for any info............
