How prevalent are turbo problems with the HHR SS?

I lost a turbo @ 42,000. The bearing spun in the housing and good night Irene; I was going 75 on the freeway when it happened. I use the car as a daily commuter and once in a while let it rip - not abused at all. I lost wastegate on the old turbo and one on the new one, they would stick open or closed all the time whihc would make the car surge- just a crappy part

Yep - Even got to flog a loaner car :)

The turbo is part of the GM 100,000 mile warranty

Mine spun a turbo bearing @ 42,000 miles and went south going 80 on the freeway. It sounded like a wood chipper for a couple minutes and I was so pissed i kept driving it knowing it was under warranty. The grinding stopped and drove it 50 miles home, wiht out the turbo it would get it ass kicked by a riding mower!

Don't laugh they do sell them.

Goodyear spent a lot of money on a Toro that has a small 4 cylinder Diesel turbo engine in a lawn mower. Were talking the kind that cost a lot of money but still a toro.
