I almost crashed my SS after start up!!!!

I don't know why but if you start the vehicle and just drive away it seems like the engine doesn't produce enough vacuum. The boost gauge shows less than 10" of vacuum right after start up. I almost crashed into another vehicle coming to a stop. Does anybody else noticed this or is it just me? Mine is an auto.

If you are talking about your brake pedal going to the floor and you think it is because of lack of vacuum then read this thread https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ht=brake+pedal

The bulletin mentions being parked for extended periods of time. To me, an extended period of time for parking a vehicle would be at least 2-3 weeks without being driven. If this condition occurs after being parked for a day or two it seems abnormal, and obviously a major safety issue. Protect yourself (and your family and everyone else on the public roadways) by bringing it in to the dealer for diagnosis.

Now that I know what is causing the problem I can take the proper precautions to prevent an issue. Good information on this thread for SS owners.

Thanks for the heads up

Glad the worst of it was that you almost crashed, and nothing worse.

Doubtful mine will sit longer than a day, so i'll prob never have that happen to me, but now i'l have it in the back of my mind

When I first start it up it hangs at about 10 PSI for maybe 20 seconds, then drops down to normal and so does the RPM, I don't drive it until it settles down in that area.

Mine will do it after sitting in the parking garage for 10 hours or overnight @ home. Only if I Start and go. If you let it sit for 1/2 minute there is no issue.

I park in a driveway with an incline and let the engine idle until the clicking stops and never had a problem.

Thanks for the link an08HHR. I cannot believe this is a normal condition. I guess I just have to warm up the vehicle before driving away. I wonder why they added the remote start? Hmmmmm..............

WOW! There's a thought. Warming up the vehicle a bit before driving off.
