I may be an owner soon

I've been lurking here for a while and just finally got a login to post. I hope to be getting a red HHR SS sometime by August. I test drove a 5-speed last week, but will likely get an auto due to the type of commute I have and this will be an everyday driver. Here are some of the cars I have had on my shortlist:

Pontiac G8 (V6)
Pontiac G6
Ford Fusion
Dodge Avenger
Chevy Malibu

I currently own a fusion orange metallic 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix (not supercharged) that has about 90K miles on it and I will be giving it to my daughter when I get my next car.

Besides the HHR SS, my other favorite is the Malibu. However, while it is a nice car, it is not really sporty, and they do not offer a bright red or orange color, which is really disappointing. So I'm definitely leaning towards the SS, especially since it is VERY sporty. It is a little smaller than my GP, and more upright in driving position, but I think I can get used to it. I test drove a stick SS last week and was pretty impressed, but did not get to really put the hammer down enough.

I am amazed by the rave reviews that are constantly posted by owners here. It seems unanimous that the SS is a blast to drive, and that is what I'm looking for - a daily driver that is fun to drive but still practical. And I absolutely love the bright red color in the HHR. I also like the lighter blue color, but they seem to be rare to find. I already have the orange, so I want something different. Previous to the GP I had a Grand Am GT in bright red and loved it.

Another bonus for the SS over the Malibu: incentives - the Malibu has nothing

Why do I get the feeling people here are going to push me to buy an HHR?

Go for the HHR. They are one of the most unique vehicles on the road. The cool factor is already built in! The Malibu LTZ would be my second choice, but would have to invest in some ultra-cool wheels and tires for it to really make it look sporty.
