This is true, just saying if you wanted to do rears someone will probably do something for it later on.

Well, no surprise, but I am still backordered on one caliper and both rotors (ok, since I always have more projects than time), at least the caliper looks nice on my bookshelf for now. Here is a group shot of the parts needed, including brembo/ferodo pads (1 set), pin kits(2), hoses(2), seal washers (bag of 10), banjo bolt(2). By the way, if you think that you can order 2 of the same caliper and switch the bleeders and crossover line on one, that won't work as the casting is not symmetrical (there is a relief for the crossover, and I would be really reluctant to remove material from a brake caliper without knowing for certain where all the internal passages are).

How much does the full assortment cost to do the front end upgrade?

If you get decent over the counter price from your local chevy dealer, (or use gmpartsdirect.com) figure roughly $850 for everything. Shipping is significant. You can run some prices at gmpartsdirect. Calipers 25900763 & 764, pin kit 25900781, pads (includes 4) 25808929 or Ferodo 107.8954.50 (uses HP1000/1 friction mat'l), copper washers 21012386, hoses 15939642, banjo bolts 11569669 (pn might have changed recently). Bear in mind that while I am told (and believe) all this will work fine, you order and install at your own risk, and obviously Chevrolet would not warranty any of this.

Thanks for all of your research doing this...can't wait to see how it all works out! Now we'll have to see if this upgrade will work on our lowly " normal utilitarian" HHRs

I remember reading that you need new lines and master cylinder as well, probably more too. And then there are the rear brakes...

Has anyone put the vented rear rotors & different calipers from the Cobalt SS/TC on their HHR SS yet? 405HP_Z06 was supposed to do his, but haven't seen him post in awhile

I don't know the specifics( piston size/number ) of the Brembo's and anybody else who doesn't better fnd out before considering this swap.If these brakes have more braking force( and I assume they do) it is POSSIBLE to upset the balance between front and rear brake bias, even with ABS.The main thing to check is how the system works the proportioning valve,as this is what controls the amount of pressures applied to front and rear, generally about a 60/40 ( just a guess). If these calipers have a bigger piston area (meaning it req's more fluid to move them the same distance as the stock ones) the rears will posibly come in sooner then the fronts, even with ABS( as this system only prevents brake lockup, not brake application)).Now how the trac control factors in I don't know,,thats more likely a gas on control rather a brake control.GM has gone thru alot of testing to balance the bias so that nobody, reguardless of driving experience, will get themselves in a situation where there is loss of control because of the brakes in a panic stop. Even though the ABS will keep the brakes from locking up..they will not prevent them from braking before the front, what this means is in bad weather even though you have ABS its possible to shock the rear before ABS kicks in and induce a slide.
Now with all that said, it may be that the Brembos are the same size(internally) as the stock units and will have no effect at all , but then one has to ask, then why change them? Yes they are lighter, stronger and better in heat, but terrible if they get water in them( they pit easily). But thats not why I posted this,,do your homework BEFORE you try the swap.Theres probably even a different program installed for these brakes if they are significantly different, as there are alot of electronics in tis vehicle....Good luck..I'll be watching this post as I am curious myself. This isn't your typical brake system on these cars, they are pretty high tech and any unbalance could cause some bad reactions.( and CELS!)
