just got insulted

i took the car into the dealer to get serviced. a sales man came up and asked if i wanted to sell. i told him to appraise it and the other ss just to see.
mine being a 08 with 28k they told me 13
dads being a 08 with 7k they told me 13.5
both cars are in really good condition
told them good luck finding one for that price

I can buy a perfect 2008 Z06 Corvette with low miles on it for $52,000.00 and new cost was almost $85,000.00 so don't feel bad. Also, dealer wholesale is always very low compared to retail (obviously).

Goes back to the ole addage. "Don't fall in love with your shi*." It's only a HHR-SS, and nothing more, nothing less. Once you buy anything, the retail price drops, and drops, and drops. It's the nature of the beast. "Moon"

That's not too far off from what they would offer as a trade in. Seems normal unless you were thinking of it as a private sale. They could go to auction and get it for the same or lower. These things aren't going to go up in price.

I don't take it personally because I am looking to drive their price down too.

Expect to be insulted and low-balled at ANY dealer

Figure that the dealer plans to take it in, mark it up by at least $3K, and then sell to some other retail customer and whisper how great a deal they are getting. If they can't purchase at a low wholesale price, then they can't cover their overhead and make a profit for their owner. Any dealer will give you an insulting offer for a car you want to sell to them directly or trade to them. That simply is not a good path to sell a car.

Lets face it , If you have a blue flash met. panel SS , 5 speed, You win.
If you have just about any other variation of an HHR ,(get paint and panel and SS mods)
Have fun and use it . IMO.
