Is it just my area or are SS prices going up?
I noticed here in Canada that there are roughly only ten SS for sale. They are all standard transmission, and either red or black in color. They are asking around 16500 to 19500. Most of which are 2008 models. Makes me love mine even more.
All the SS vehicles, which have been discontinued, are going up in price vs. 2009/2009.
The last 2 years I have bought three SS, the HHR, an Impala and a Trailblazer.
All I bought used with low miles, all three we're well cared for, all had extended warranties from GM.
I am looking for another HHR SS or a Trailblazer for our second home and from time to time go on the web to have a look.
6 months ago all chevy SS's were falling out of the trees and there was always a special one with low mileage.
Today most of the SS's are higher mileage or roughly used.
My thought of this is two fold. Either the main owner's of all SS's keep them a long time, or there just weren't that many of the market.
I do know the hardest to find is the Impala SS with the HHR SS a close second. Every survey I read from owners shows one one side they would like higher quality materials, but on the other hand most of the owners drive them until the wheels fall off and never want to see them go.
It's funny, I was looking at the news of the Focus ST wagon. Seems pretty cool, except it has a much less usable storage space than the HHR and isn't really any faster.
Build quality is higher but you can get in the very high $30,000 and when I think I bought my HHR SS with 12,000 miles, was perfectly cared for and had the dealer throw in tax, title, extended warranty and liscense for a total of $18,000 I kind of realize I should have bought two right then.
I keep saying it, but there is nothing to match the HHR SS sold in this country today and I'm not talking about the retro look.
In fact I'll be glad when mine is out of warranty because then I'm going to have it totally tricked out by an LA custom shop.
A semi matte dark black, with full moon's, chrome mirrors, grill less front with louvers, metal front spliiter and a semi exposed IC.
IMO

Still would've liked to have seen an HHR update, a la the 2012 Beetle (VW really did an excellent job with that one...the interior is beautiful). Oh well...
LOL mines a 2010 with 5spd, LSD, Brembos, RPD and 27000 KMS in excellent condition. I have been trying to trade it in over the past three months and I have been offered a low of 12K CDN and a high of 13.5K CDN this is after going to 3 or 4 diff. dealers non of which are the same brand.
I could not give this thing away if i wanted....they all say they would have too hard of a time getting rid of a 5spd wagon....
Sucks cause this is the first time I have really wanted to get rid of a car ( i really dont like it) and I cant.

Yep, I am seeing the same as HiggySS on trade in on my 2010 5spd, LSD, Brembo & Stage 1 with 31K miles. Dealer offers me $14000 on a trade in and I said too low. Another offered me 14,500 and I still said too low. 2012 Challenger SRT8 is beckoning me !
Dealer don't want a standard shift unless it is a Vette, Mustang or Camaro. Even then they are reluctant.
With only 7% of all new cars standard shift they are getting too hard to sell since too few people know even how to drive one.
Even the best sports cars in the world anymore lack a clutch pedal and are semi automatic as they can shift faster.

Funny but most of the ones I see are 09's. With so many more 08's I would have expected them.
Some one at work either just got hired or bought one. Anyone here with a Ohio plate Bad SS?
