When driving my "08 SS - Auto, I mash the gas pedal, and the engine will only tech up to 3000 rpm. All the posts I have read on this forum says everyone's SS revs up to 4000 rpm in Launch Control Mode.

Whats up with mine.

Somebody with an auto and HPT should be able to look this up in the stock tables.

 

AFAIK, the Autos will rev up to 3200-3500 rpm (don't remember EXACTLY where the tach was when I was testing mine, but it was in that vicinity). Manuals will rev up to 4100 rpm's I believe. I'm pretty sure they did that to avoid too many people from grenading the tranny if they were foolish enough to do neutral drops or had too much tire slippage under the wrong conditions...

Press on the gas lighter? I am not too sure, each time I try LC I light them up. Caused me to go through a set of the Michelins in about a year. Plus, I race too much.

 

Your beliefs are true. I have the fiver, tried it out several times and it steadys on 4100rpm in LC mode.

 

I believe the auto is low because of the tq converter stall...in neutral it will peg at 4100....in gear its in the 3k s

 

That is correct. the stock converter stalls at a much lower RPM.

Not most new GM cars are limited in netral today. You can stand on the gas and only go to 4100 RPM. GM has a built in rev limiter that changes in gear. I am not sure but have seen this on several throttle by wire systems. They all seem to have it.

 

Yes, stock converters always rev low.... that and the whole sucking up enormous amounts of usable power for us auto guys!
