Mustangs, Camaro's Blah blah blah
I am seriously considering a Camaro, probably a V-6, for my next car. My wife's cousin has the Camaro SS, and it is pretty hard to get down into and out of. Unlike the HRR, which I just plop in and out of with ease. I'd like to get the Camaro SS, but I put on so many miles (21K a year) that it would be a waste to rack up miles on a high-performance car.
I bought my HHR for a work car, to do deliveries, and be my DD. At the last second, I decided to get the SS model. Boy, am I glad I did! This car is a blast to drive, even with a POS 4 spd. A/T. I just wish I could do-over, and get the manual tranny. My only gripe is the lousy vision lines from the driver's seat. I have to crouch to see overhead traffic lights. The future of GM could be aided by a wider distribution of this motor. I have the Stg.1 added, and it should be standard. The only alarming habit is the death rattle this giant killer motor has at start-up. GM really builds great motors, but this is almost unacceptable quality. My other GM car is a highly modified '02 ZO6, so I'm a Chevy stalwart, and have been for almost 50 years. If Buick uses this motor for it's GS models, it would be a good idea to use a tuned-up Stg. motor, preferably a new Stg.2? I read it was going to be a 220 HP version, so I hope they rethink that. Sorry for the rant, but nobody gets giddy over HHRs like a SS owner. PS, I wish my Corvette was Victory red, so it'd match my HHR. Lots easier to keep shiny than black, too.
I never had an issue with sight lines. Often most cool cars are never easy to see out of.
The Lotus Exige has no rear window. It does have a inside reae veiw mirror only because it was cheaper to put it in vs getting the goverment waiver.
The Buick GS will get it's own engine and not just the SS engine. There are improvments coming so just bolting the LNF as it is just will not happen. The 6 speed will make a world of change with this engine. Even at lower power the gearing in the car will make it perform as well if not better than the SS with the Upgrade.
Also the new Eco is to be smaller and lighter.
The is no more upgrades for the SS as the Cobalt is the last. GM may up the power or add a kit for the Buick later.
Buick says it will be 250 HP and something like 270 FT LB. I would watch as I suspect they will do better before it's release. GM ups power 10-20 HP on most engines right before release.
