Need Snow Tires Badly

Had a big dumping of snow....nearly 18 inches on X-MAS eve day (23rd night). Got out of my driveway and then got stuck on a couple of inches of snow. No chance at all to even get back in the driveway, even with two pushers. So, my neighbour and I hooked up his teather straps and he towed me down my street in his Dodge Ram until we got to a secondary road that had been plowed. Really see the need for winter wheels now. It is amazing what specs tire makers can get away with to say it is an all season tire. Maybe if you live in Southern California where there is very little chance of snow.

Not all All Seasons are created equal. Just looking at the Pilots one could see they just are not siped to cut snow well.

I also noted they were not great in the wet either.

Michelin is not any different than any other tire company. They too have good and poor tires.

How much of a difference do you notice with the Blizzaks?

I've got Firestone Winterforce on my SS......they make a world of difference. And for only $65/tire they're definitely cost effective. Had them mounted on 16" steel rims. Total cost was around $550 shipped to my door. Tack on $20 clams for the install and it was under 6 bills. Best 6 hun I've spent this year.........until I get the stage 1 GM upgrade installed. Still waiting on that, maybe Santa forget me along his route, hoping he'll be back by this way next week.

I also have Blizzaks. I have never been so amazed by a product.
We also had alot of snow and SS went thru it all like a 4 wheel drive.
Plus when you brake, it stops- no skid.
Then Fri we had a thick coating of ice and I have a driveway with a steep
uphill. SS with Blizzads did not slip on the ice and was able to actually
accelerate up the icey hill.

Thx...appreciate the feedback.....rather keep the SS upgrade the turbo and add winter tires then trade er in for a Chev Silverado 4X4.

Nokian WR's for an all season tire. Works wonders here in Saskatchewan with all that we face in the fall/winter/spring. Even at -44F they refuse to turn to stone unlike pretty much every other non-winter tire I've seen. Great in the rain and mud too. Hell, I'd throw a set on my Avalanche if they made them!
