New 09 SS, a couple of little worries...
I'm gonna offer a possible answer to the "funky smell". when a cars motor breaks in there is always some sort of foriegn oil, grease, gasket, etc. that has a fctory coating or film. as the motor breaks-in you will burn out,off that material. as far as the intake sound.... I love hearing that rush!

Gang,
When my SS starts, it makes a low volume howling sort of noise. It goes away after the car warms a little and it drops off the "choke" to a normal idle. I notice this when I warm it up in the garage for a minute or so (RE the brake / vacume problem). Any clues or similar experiences?
"Howling" noise is normal and caused by actions the engine control system takes to warm up the catalytic converter as quickly as possible. Basically, the throttle is partially opened up, and the spark timing is retarded.
Secondly, when I park car after a drive it smells bad... funky sort of smell unlike I've ever had on a car (not brakes or a lining smell, nor does it remind me of electrical problems). Converter? Turbo / exhaust?
I only have about 500 miles on my car so far. Thanx, Gary
The smells are likely just typical new car smell from coatings on parts that have not been heated much yet. Those smells will dimish with time.
