Not looking for a argument just my own opninon based on what I was told by GMPD engineer.

Call it what you want as it looks good no matter what.

It is a fact that the HHR SS has an avaliable GMPD Stage 1 upgrade.

you must have been talking to someone in the other GMPD group

Actually, there is no stage 1. It is actually a "GMPP turbo upgrade kit" that is all. Its a hangup that I have as well. The reason people call it a stage 1 is because of the s/c cobalts. If it wasnt for the s/c cobalts having stage upgrades, noone wouldve have thought to call it a stage 1 kit. Sorry for thread jack.

Well it was one of the engineers in charge of the upgrade program that related this info to me. I would think he would know? I asked him a while back just to get the offical word so I would know.

To be clear GM in some of the limited but not all media releases did use the term stage kit a few times but it was never the offical name. No it is not sexy or cool sounding but officialy that is what GM calls it. I think It would have been better marketing if they had called it the Turbo Stage Kit.

It sounds good and they can call it what they want there are no rules to say other wise. So lets not drag it out anymore. The stickers look good let leave it at that.

I was going to do the Buick Stage 1 emblems but chose not to because I was not comfortable with it, that was just my choice for me. Some one else may want to give it a shot as the Buick emblems would look very factory like.

OK, from the GM Performance Division website, here is the press announcement. They call it a turbo upgrade kit, but the heading for the announcement mentions Stage Kits. Since there's only one kit available, I can see why people assumed 'Stage 1'. I went with what people have been calling it. Grey area, but I like my decal.

GM announces Stage Kits for 2.0 Liter LNF Turbo Engine
Turbo Upgrade Kit for Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, HHR SS
(19212670) MSRP $750

The turbo upgrade kit for the Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, and HHR SS was designed by General Motors Performance Division Engineers to get the most power possible out of the 2.0 Liter LNF Turbo engine. This kit will take your vehicle from 260 hp and 260 ft-lbs to 290 hp and as much as 340 ft-lbs of torque. All this power and you will still retain the full factory warranty. This kit also provides emission standards that accommodate the legal criteria in all 50 states. This kit is a quick an easy install that will not affect the driveability of your vehicle in any way, but will have plenty of extra power and torque when called upon. Because of the different drivetrain combinations, there are several different calibrations with slightly different power outputs. The specifications are as follows:

• 2007 & 2008 Solstice/ Sky Manual 290 Hp @5200 rpm and 340 ft-lbs @3600
• 2007 & 2008 Solstice Auto 290 Hp @5200 rpm and 325 ft-lbs @3600
• 2008 HHR SS Manual and Auto 290 Hp @5200 rpm and 315 ft-lbs @4800

This kit includes the “No Lift Shift” feature for faster accelerations with manual transmissions.

This kit will also be available for the 2008-2009 Cobalt SS and the above 2009 Turbo vehicles in Q1 2009.

The colour can be changed for the '1'. White, black, red, blue, silver, whatever.
I was thinking about that too. The Red '1' would really look amazing on the black and navy blue HHR SS's. For the red HHR's... a white '1'? A burgundy or different shade of red? Suggestions are welcome. I'm thinking of producing a set for people to buy, but these colour considerations are good to nail early.
