New Problem- Smoke.
I'm Getting a puff of smoke out of the Tail pipe when i take off from a Stop light. I was getting a code for the ECT sensor. I replaced it.
Never noticed the smoke until i started getting the code for the ECT.
It is a 2008 SS with 196k Miles. Wondering if the Turbo Could be the problem. I do get an Underboost Code Sometimes. I think its P0299.
Or Possibly Valve Seals. I cant seem to get it to do it while sitting in the drive way. It's always after a short drive, Then taking off from a redlight.

A) blue stinking (undigested fuel) smoke - this is a sign of a rich fuel mixture appears, unscrew the spark plugs and look at them - if there is black soot, it means the gasoline does not have time to burn because there is too much;
B) bluish, non-smelly smoke - your oil burns out, this happens when the piston rings damaged or valve stem seals oldage;
C) black smoke - this means your engine is clogged with soot and varnish deposits so much that all this crap burns out, or (which is really bad) your engine is simply already dead and the fact that it is still moving the car is just a reflex;
E) white smoke - your antifreeze gets into the cylinders and burns along with gasoline, also very bad.
But, most likely, your case is the first (point A). Understand the cooling system. Don’t wait too long, a rich mixture can kill the catalyst, and in the USA, living without a catalyst, as I understand it, is not legal.

I have almost ruled out valve seals. I had to drive my Wifes car to work today to do Maintenance on Hers. I went home at lunch to drop her car off and get mine. I noticed when i started the HHR 1st start up of the day there was no smoke at all. so it seems only after driving for a few miles and stop at a light it does it.
