Oil Life Display Quirky After ECM Reflash in SS

I've had my SS for going on 3 months now, so it's one of the first in the states. I was over at my dealership (stupid tire monitor) and they noted that an ECM update was available. They completed the update, and my oil life went from 70+% life left to 0% with less than 3000 miles on the odometer. Has anyone else had a computer update and noted any quirks.

I wonder if it had the standard oil life settings from a normal HHR (which can go over 10k before hitting 0%), and GM decided to lower the oil life span since it's a "performance" vehicle (even though we run Mobil 1 )

The value probably got overwritten by the reflash.

Classical case of a bad system upgrade (one that doesn't preserve user settings or valuable data). It may be the reflash itself or that the tech didn't follow proper procedures.

That's what I hope happened, but it kept ever other display entact (mpg, trip odometers, etc.).

I agree with "dream"....

Also, I believe if they do a COMPLETE reflash (much like sending your ecm to a tuner) it will delete the OLI reading...but not the mileage, trip, etc.

May be wrong however .

They should of reset the oil life when they replaced the program which is different then a reprogram. When you replace, all values are overwritten. Not knowing which update they did I can't say for sure, but it sounds like they just chose the wrong option and/or just didn't reset the oil life system to the original value.
