Look at the overall picture

JerSSy,
Check out the number of people with an SS that love them compared to the ones with problems. Factor in the cost difference...
Any car manufacturer can have a lemon, my SS is nothing but cream. Just make sure you get in a GOOD test drive and look the car over well.

Well, that's the balance you have to make. A 4-cylinder Accord with the options I want is about $27K. No financing rates, no rebates. I could probably get the price down to $26K. It has 190 HP

The HHR SS I want is $25.5K. It has a $2250 rebate, plus I have $850 GM credit, and I'm sure I can get it got at least $1K under MSRP. It has 235 HP (auto).

It's about a $5K difference in price between the two vehicles. Granted, the Accord will likely hold its value quite well. The HHR SS will be more fun to drive, and get slighlty better MPG, although you're supposed to use premium fuel.

jerSSeyHHR, if you need a supplier discount, let me know I can get it for you at INVOICE price if you decide to go that route.

I've had my HHR SS for about a month now -- not a single problem thus far. Some cars are just born lemons unfortunately

You are kind of comparing apples and oranges with the Accord and a HHR SS. It seems to me that you should compare a Civic Type R to the HHR SS. For me it was a HHR SS or nothing. I cant live with a sedan. I am always hauling stuff and the HHR fits my needs, plus being a blast to drive. Even though I am having issues with mine I dont regret it right now. G.B.

If you buy a GM, you know what you're getting going in.

I think he was referring to the Cobalt.

Not comparing the HHR to the Cobalt reliability wise. Like you said its the same car.(I don't like the looks of the Cobalt personally...never have)

Mightymouse has 2 HHR's and has the need for speed. The Cobalt SS will be a much better platform to build upon if you want to race.

My first car was a Honda (POS) I have owned 10+ domestics since .

on another note, they are still trying to see what's going on with the car. the service mangager was in a meeting(hoping it's about my car) so i will get more info. if my problem can be resolved,i have no problem keeping the hhr,but given the chance,i will take a cobalt.

mightymouse . . . I can certainly respect your frustration . . . I know you want "your" car back, but . . . right now . . . if you had the choice of the dealer keeping the car attempting the resolve the issue, or give you back a car that doesn't run right . . .

Hopefully they have you in a rental, which they should.

Being the proud owner of TWO HHR's you know that they run really well, unfortunately your 5 speed version has a gremlin, that is perplexing and hard to find . . .

Hopefully, the dealer IS doing all that they can, and quite possibly are being somewhat head at bay by some of GM's service requirements . . . For GM to aggree to replacing the ECM, they are nearing the end of their list of things to try.

I would also encourage to contact GM Customer Service and at least file a service report.

I wish you luck and am confident that the issue wil resolve itself, in due time.
