P0017-p0090-p0341-p0128

Hi guys . Sorry if I am doing this wrong thread wise not very computer smart. However I have these codes on the mother in laws 2008 i believe HHR SS. What should I start with exactly. Hoping maybe a bad crankshaft sensor and not timing.

Welcome.
"mother in laws 2008 i believe HHR SS"
1st thing would be to find out exactly what year and model you're talking about. Also, would be nice to know the mileage on the car.

If it is an SS, then the chances of a bad timing chain are very high. As well as a bad t-stat, I bet P0128 has been around for a while and the AC doesn't work.

Requires professional diagnosing.

Welcome to the site, please identify the code or codes, and engine size and year.

He put the codes in the title. And thinks it is a 2008 SS, the fuel pressure circuit fault leads me to believe that.

p0017 - - exh. VVT solenoid failed - - super common on GM 4 cyl cars. - - very easy to replace - - the part is $50 - - on top of the valve cover on the passenger side - the exh. VVT solenoid is the one closest to the firewall.

p0128 - usually a bad thermostat

You are confusing P0013. P0017 is a bad timing chain, it just shows up on the exhaust side first because of geometry.

Ah yes put the codes up there, well , I’m going to suggest changing the timing chain and the balance shaft chain and the water pump and thermostat, don’t forget new Dexcool!
Then let’s see what codes pop up after that

P0017 indicates a stretched timing chain
