I swapped the part at the front of the engine. And went to swap this guy and noticed it was not clicked in all the way!

Would this cause the "check gas cap" code by not being inserted and locked in? I barely touched it and it almost came out. I'm assuming it has some pressure?

I clicked it in hoping this solves it.

Is there anything else I should check down here?

How fast should the code clear itself if it's good now?

Yes. It is called "EVAP vent valve". It vents the tank so you can fill it.
It will clear itself as soon as it is fixed.
My guess is the PO replaced it recently. I would check the gasket between the valve and the charcoal canister.

Will that be behind the main tube that connects into the bigger unit?

I still smell semi-foul exhaust in the cabin and its still blowing smoke out of the exhaust when the accelerator is let off. So unless the computer needs to adjust after a while, I don't think it solved the issue.

I tried to smog it today and even their report was blue smoke.

They also said the knock sensor code was still valid.

I did not see any broken or loose lines connected to it under the car. Anywhere else I should look?

Smokes when you let off the accelerator, did you ever perform a compression test?

Lol. I will see if a local shop can do that tomorrow.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to take the head off...best case scenario...maybe new rings and head gasket?

That could be the source of fuel fumes. exhaust leak if you mean exhaust fumes.
Blue smoke usually is oil burning.
Is the CEL on or not?

Idk..I smell it in the cabin a lot. And it's not normal fumes. It's got an odd smell. Not like my 2010 LT.

CEL is still on. Only drove it about 20 miles after properly inserting that unit. I've seen the "check gas cap" pop up a few times which Im assuming is the code reapearing and would clear the next time it went to check?

Odd smell, make sure to keep checking the coolant level, gives an odd smell when burnt in the combustion chamber.
