Question about SS manual trans.

How does the shift leaver in the SS attach to the throw rod?

I haven't had it apart, but I think it's a cable shifter. Is that what you were asking?

Well, what I was looking to do was to see if an SS shift knob could be used on a non-SS, but based on those pictures it doesn't look like it can.

I was trying to find a low cost alternative to changing the knob without replacing the entire throw, or having to cut threads in my existing shaft. I was hoping for a knob with a similar attachment method, but in a different style. The chrome half of my knob likes to break off, so I wanted something different
