Question regarding the "mysterious" RPD

I recently discovered a crashed 09 SS 3rd Panel that has a RPD installed. They want $100 shipped for it. Can I install the RPD by myself into my father's 09' SS Panel?

Information on the RPD is very limited and I have searched for quite a while.

I have heard stories that SS's with the RPD installed from the factory will not function properly if the RPD is removed. (T or F?)

So what I am asking is:

1. Can a RPD be removed from one SS and installed into another SS without major hassle?

2. Is the RPD a "plug & play" type of deal or is it a spiderweb allover the place under the hood?

3. Is it worth the $100 bucks?

Thanks,
7R4SH

I have looked all over for any info on the RPD such as an owners manual, specs.,manufact., programming etc. I haven't found anything.
It's just a mysterious little box built by some unknown company.

I know from experience that a car equipped with an RPD won't START with it removed. As far as adding one I seem to remember over on CSS there was a how to.

Hope that helps

If it works like it should, you will love it. Lots of useful info. It even has a short video which displays the SS logo on engine startup. Well worth the 100 bucks and work to get it installed correctly.

Thanks everyone!!!
I really appreciate all of your input.
I am currently waiting to hear back from the guys that are removing it.
On a scale of 1/10 they were a 8.8 when it came to removing the rocker moldings from the same crashed SS for my panel LS. ^__^
