No need to sacrifice performance or cargo capacity. 556 HP and you can bring home a refrigerator with it.

I really love driving my SS, and it's great for work as an in town delivery car. Thanks for your suggestions in advance.
Well, I would be sadden if I "HAD" to get rid of my SS too. Especially if I wasn't tire of it. Have you thought about some of the suggestions in this thread so far? Like a lower seat, moving the mirror and a stop light prism might allow you to keep your HHR. As you said you would lose some money as you haven't had it very long and only 24,000 miles.
If nothing else works you could have your car redone at the Pope-mobile roof stretching salon in Venice.

I'm gonna try the mirror trick. Never occured to me. One problem, is it's a work car, that my printing business uses for smaller in town deliveries, and the delivery person is a much shorter woman. She says it's hard to see overhead lights even from her perspective! Lowering the seat is the first thing is thought of, and it appears to be pretty involved, with some fabrication needed. I really might go that way, because I do love to drive my car, it's just horrible to see out of. It's kind of funny, because I see lots of reviews that state how happy the review writer is with the headroom. They must really like the gangsta' lean.

Get in touch with FatherAzmodius since he's installed a racing seat in his SS Panel. I definitely jump on the "push the mirror as high as it'll go" club. I'm 5'10", 275 and will wind up getting one of those lightnsite things myself. At night I cheat and watch the reflection on the dash to know when the light changes, just food for thought.

Later

Some are just more sensitive to the issues that bother you on sight. The light issue was a problem for the first two times it happened but since I just don't pull up as far and don't even think about it.

Some people adapt to car well and some don't. It is like the blind spots in the HHR. For some it is a big issue and others they get over it in a day or so of driving.

I know the medical part is different but not much anyone can do there.

You got two inches on me and I am fine. Now if my legs were longer I might be a little less comfortable as I would have to sit back farther and the wheel would be farther infront of me.

GM really needed a telescopic wheel in this car and to cut the center stack a little more narrow for more leg room.

At least this gives the forum a chance to make ridiculous recommendations for a new car....

I say buy a used Pontiac G8 GXP!! Still a GMC product.... and as much ridiculous fun per dollar as anything out there!! It's sad that Pontiac is no more just when they were bringing out great new cars...

Not pulling up as close to the line is not an option. The overhead lights drop below my line of sight at least a half a block away. This is REALLY annoying.... the light is green, and you're into the intersection at full speed, crane your neck, and SH*T the light's red! My delivery girl got a speeding ticket the other day ago, but so far, I've avoided any tickets, even though I drive that little car like the proverbial bat outa hell. Good thing I didn't get the 5 spd, I'd probably be on my second set of tires. Damn performance seat is plenty comfy, but it does sit higher than a stock seat. I remember the two years I had a Ford Windstar as a DD. I don't think I drove it over the speed limit once, but this car it's irresistable.

Maybe hold off and see if GM brings the wagon version of the upcoming Buick Regal GS.

Listen up guys-spend the $17.50 and improve your day. It's been on my front window since I got the HHR a year ago and with it I can see straight up a birds anus as it's trying to poop on my black car. You can see it in the pic on the upper right side of the windshield. www.lightinsight.com. Be like NIKE and just do it.
