Rhetorical Q

I specifically reserve final decision rights. And that is that.

Ok, I am somewhat betwixt and between on this, so I thought I would toss it out there and see what ye have to say. I have an '08 HHR SS, that is basically stock, with about 107K miles on it.

Proposal A is that Dad gut the car and goes for autocross glory (admittedly not exactly "bright" lights), and essentially be selfish, but go further than any HHR has before...

Or, baby it, and teach my 14-yo girl to drive a stick, etc. She is already a multi-sport athlete, so coordination won't be an issue - trust me.

One is selfish, one is wait and develop the next-gen. I'm sure this group has thought about this before - at least to a degree. (I am considering going National in autocross if my work pans out.) How to weigh one against the other... Please chime in.

An aside: are polls only available to premium members? If so, that's OK. I am unemployed, so premium is not on the agenda for now... However, love the site, and wouldn't mind helping out, if help is needed.

Added a "Poll" for you Blue SS, and my vote is to keep it for the future, 107,000 on the clock is hardly "run in" and your daughter will think you're the World's Greatest Dad if you save it for her.

I say both. Why not autocross it AND teach her to drive on it? Unless you're rolling in the dough, odds are it'll take you a while to really get it to "racecar" status, so why not play with it, slowly mod it, and when she's ready to go, toss her the keys(with you in the passenger seat, of course)?
