I wanted the backup camera for my SS. I purchased the mirror from a Tahoe on eBay (found by searching the part number) and the camera too from eBay. I went to our local u-pick salvage yard and found 2 rear trim plates from 2011. One actually had the camera in it, so I snagged the rear hatch harness as well, all for $35. I made a custom harness after studying the GM wiring diagrams. I powered the camera from the mirror, picked up the reverse signal from the mirror, ran the video wires, a drain wire and installed it all. It works perfectly and didn't have to tear the whole car apart installing it, just the rear lift gate and headliner.

The only issue is the rear trim piece that mounts the camera and license plate lights has a mounting stud in a slightly different location, so I'm only mounted with 3 studs, which seems to suffice.

All in all, it works great and super happy to have a backup camera in my 09 SS!😁

Yes the ‘11 has different mounting holes to clear the camera, I think the ‘10 was the same, but not the ‘06 thru ‘09.
Very cool you got it working, that’s awesome.

 

The brembos are part of the G85 option, along with the LSD. Only available from the factory with the manual transmission.
Some 2008 SS had only the LSD, but there were very few.
