i was reading some of the documents that came with my SS and read about a shift light. its says *if iequiped* are any SS model equiped with the shift light? i can see the place where the light should be in the dash but nothing ever lights up in mine.

 

Get you a Aeroforce Gauge and you got a shift light and among other things as well....:

there is an upshift light on some models it looks like an up arrow inside a gear but i dont know if it lights up on U.S. models

 

The shift light comes with the optional Reconfigurable Display - (uaw I think) on the 09 SS models. There is a build hold if equipped with a 5 speed however.

 

answer is yes. it is available only with the RPD and it is ajustable for each gear.

 

Yea, forgot all about the RPD features, not surprising since the options not available for us poor Canadians. Then again, not yet for anyone, but soon eh?

 

Man am i happy my 08 HHR SS does not have a shift light. For some reason they really annoy me. If you aren't sure when you should shift you shouldn't be driving a manual!

 

the RPD is out and easily available on the auto equipped '09 SS's. i can take some picture today of a blue flash '09 ss auto with it.

 

the shift light is programmable. you can make it come on at the RPM you want for each gear. you can also choose not to display it at all. the light comes in handy on situations when you can't hear and you need a quick visual aide.
