Should I wait for Camaro V6???
I'll agree that SOME protocols, inside of GM, have changed recently. But it does remain to be seen, if these changes are affective/effective and worthy.
I remember ALL the former CEO's, Pete Estes, Roger Smith, Jack Smith, Bob Stemple and Wagoner spouting/envoking the same philosophy......get lean, build vehicles wanted by the consumer, consession from the unions, etc. etc. But under each reign, this company continued to lose market share and money.
For the old timers, remember when GM had more than 50% of the market share, then 40%, then mid 30's, then low 30's, now mid to high 20's. Frankly, most analysts indicate GM cannot survive "as presently structured" on less than a third of the market. And the new structuring will require implimenting many inititives that will be painful to many people.
I obviously have a vested interest in the success of this new transformation. But I can't help thinking, " the current actions are just extending the inevitable".

They will make it but the look of the company will change and the changes will start soon since they were just granted the money.
We will see many things go in Models, Brands, Plants, Staff, Dealers and more.
The plans are already in place and they just has to know and see if where the money was coming form, how much they would get and what things were tied to it.
I will warn that the big monster they will face now is the economy. Even if they get everything right over the next two years the economy will hurt and they have no control over it. The best they can do is get the new product out that is waiting to be intro'ed and hope the economy get better.
Even Toyota is posting a loss this year so it is hard to expect too much when all are in the red this year.

I agree with Snoopy, think it would be like trying to float the Queen Mary in your bath tub. Their financial problems were accelerated and aggregated by the economy melt down, not the result of it and now they have the challenge of trying to fix their corporate problems in an unforgiving business environment, where even strong companies are struggling. To survive, the bean counters (who we all love to hate) will have to take control. Tough medicine for tough times and the clock is ticking.
But, don't get me wrong, like everyone else, I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

With a little more effort I'm sure we can whittle this down to the fact that it's the fault of the man who invented the wheel in 10,000 BC. Without that event Utahkompressor wouldn't have to ask for opinions on wether he should wait on a camaro or go for the HHR now.
But the OP hasn't complained about it, so carry on as you wish.
