Hey CarlsSS, not sure what you need to tow, but if it's for something like a travel trailer, we were in this dilemma back in '04. We already had a GMC Sierra Crew and were opting for a 5th wheel, but after assessing the use of the GMC, we figured that the only time it was used was for towing (we own 7 vehicles; all registered and on the road). We ended up getting rid of the GMC for a 30' Class C motorhome. It proved to be so much better for the in-transit part of traveling. And we already owned a Suzuki Samurai which is towable with all wheels on the ground, so the dingy vehicle thing was taken care of.
BTW, for any other members who have motorhomes and and have and SS, Demco makes tow tabs for the HHR SS.

I hear ya... We are not in that heavy-hauling mode yet. Just pulling a lighter pop-up camper, snowmobiles and utility trailer at times.
But we have talked of traveling/touring like that once we retire, and will probably go that route. Today's motorhomes are awesome, and would be nice to pull a little get-around rig like a HHR...

Maybe something like a GMC Acadia/Chevrolet Traverse would be suitable. It has a 5200 lb Towing Capacity and still gets 17 city/24 hwy mpg. Since you live in WI like me, it also can be had in AWD. Would probably be a lot better gas mileage than your Tahoe and still pull what you need it to. And it's still a GM product!

2006 Saab 97X!
Hey guys, thought I'd report back after I finally found my replacement vehicle. Found a sweet Saab 97X with just 67K miles on it. It has the Chevy 5.3L V8 for plenty of pulling power and very comfortable ride. Lots of nice features like heated leather, moonroof, Bose 6-disc changer and driver memory settings. We really like it a lot!
It doesn't have the rip-roar launch like the Stage 1 SS had, but not too bad! Hope to do some mods to it soon to personalize it and make it a little more sporty. Probably cross-drilled rotors and painted calipers first as it will need brakes soon. Here is a couple pics I took in my favorite photo spot!

This thing is soooo clean even under the hood! Nice to find a vehicle that is very well cared for.
That is the nice thing about Chevy small blocks. So many aftermarket parts and you can make them sing without spending tons of $!
