Squeeeaaaky Brembos
From another site:
The definition of shimmed by CRC and other polymer industries than what many pad manufacturers consider as shimmed.
CRC's engineers state that brake pads with a slice of metal built right onto the backing plate (they call this a metal gage riveted to the backing plate) is NOT a shimmed brake pad. The only pad design they consider to be "shimmed" are pads with actual, separate shims like those that are featured in the OEM pads. Shims that are detachable and must be user-installed. Any pads with riveted, pre-installed metal pieces that are not user removable are not considered shimmed pads.
Thank you for you interest in CRC’s products. You had inquired whether it was better to use Disc Brake Quiet over Synthetic Brake Caliper Grease for quieting brake noise on your shimmed brake pad. We would recommend using Synthetic Brake Caliper Grease for your shimmed brake pads. Disc Brake Quiet is meant for usage on non-shimmed brake pads. The Disc Brake Quiet’s tackiness will cause the shimmed pad not to work properly. Additionally, the Synthetic Brake Caliper Grease will cut down on the corrosion on the brakes.

Chev could do better
Don't bother taking it to Chevrolet according to there service bulletin some occasional noise and dust is to be expected with performance brakes systems under certain conditions. I guess all the time fits this description.
Wonder why they just didn't use some vette parts, do they have any of these problems?
I did take mine apart and found some paste it looked like so since I knew that didn't work I used some of the brake grease since these have shims and so far it's better with only a few miles to test but I have heard some already so we'll see.

I looked at the pads some but I don't know if the pads are OEM or Brembo, didn't notice any markings. By the way they're starting to squeal again. Are there any contacts at Chev to bring a problem to their attention this will probably affect many others, some occasional noise as they put it I could live with but this is pretty much all the time.
I feel a bit repetative, but there is no reason you need to live with "squeaking" Brembos. I applied the compound that is included with the GM factory (Ferodo) pads to the backing plate, between the shim and the plate, prior to installing the pads in the calipers. Mine have never squealed and I have about 9,000 miles on them now. If you are not comfortable with working on it yourself, then a brake/tire shop can do it for you in 15 minutes or less.

This is the most effective repair to stop or lessen the squeak. The pads are vibrating which is causing the squeak. Applying this or other similar products to the back of the pads will work.
Oh man I love those old vettes
I did take the pads out and cleaned off the paste that was on them and put new brake grease on them and it was quiet for a couple of days. I haven't driven it much with the bad weather (got the old truck out) but from what I could tell so far they're starting to do it again. I hope some others that are having this problem will let us know what they do and the results.
Chev dealer could do what I did and then do more if needed since it wasn't hard to tell there was a problem instead of showing me a memo saying they won't touch it.
Thanks for the replies.
