SS to 2LT

I recently traded my 08 SS in on an 09 2LT. I have a 110 mi round trip commute and had racked up over 43K miles on the SS after 1 year and 8 months.
The SS performed fine during the entire time I owned it and was a little hesitant to part with it. (It was ready for a set of tires tho).
Other than the 2.0L turbo engine, 18" wheels and the 6 disc changer, the 2LT is equipped as the SS was. The 2LT is a flex fuel vehicle, E85 is available here. The ride is softer and really a bit nicer for the long commute on some of these crappy roads. The snow performance is improved with the all season tires instead of the low profile sport tires of the SS.
The 2LT lacks the awesome acceleration of the SS, I've adjusted my driving to match that. Another thing I really miss is the 'ghost light' over the center console, it provided just enough illumination to find items at night.
I went with a 2LT over the SS as a replacement to get a few more MPG but I haven't seen an improvement yet.

We went the other way from a 1LT to an SS. Agree with your comments about the ride, snow performance, and MPG. The last one was a welcome surprise. Of course, if you put your foot in it enough you will notice a difference in the MPG.

I never did drive a 2LT to see if it would be sufficient. I was always under the assumption that I would only buy an SS because of the perforance issues. However, when I was looking at the SS, I did get a lot of feedback from 2LT owners who had nothing but great things to say about the HHR.

There is very little difference in the fuel mileage ratings between the SS and non-SS models. And, in "real world" driving, there is probably even less difference!

What do you mean? Do you keep the accelerator matted to the floor to try and get the same performance? You might hurt your fuel mileage a bit...

I have driven all levels of HHR's and noted that the mileage was not a whole lot different from the 2.0 to the others.

The regular HHR rides a bit better due more to the smaller wheels and bigger sidewalls on the tires. My winter 16" wheels on my SS net about the same results.

I just hope you did not take too big of a hit on the trade as the loss there would have bought a lot of gas. A set of Eagle GT's from the tire rack might have been a lot cheaper than writing off depreciation?

As long as you are happy and not too upside down on payments is all that matters.

Wow, those E85 numbers suck-
I was never a fan of biofuels to begin with, and now- even less.

You might even want to take the E85 emblem off as it just adds weight to the HHR.
