2008 SS 5sp; 13,500 miles... trans seems to be getting louder-lots of gear whine and thunk on and off the throttle. I have an appt to have Chevy look at it... anyone out there with similar concerns. Thanks for input

 

Long shot...but it could be lack of fluid...had an older errr f**d did that for a while and locked up at about 65 MPH...very interesting luckily no one was behind me

 

My drivetrain clunks, thumps, and whines, and I think most SS's do. Check the Cobalt SS forums (same drivetrain) and many there report the same thing. I had a mechanic go for a test drive with me and he didn't think it was unusual.

It's a heavy-duty performance clutch and transmission designed to handle lots of torque, and I think the noise is just part of the package. It really does sound like it's going to fall apart sometimes though
