Took mine out this weekend to the country. 0-100 in @ 10 seconds and laid into the turbo up and down the hills a bit. AWESOME!!! I traded a 3.8 Firebird and I dare say that this thing is faster and handles better. NOt quite used to a front-driver though, but I'll live. On the way home, I averaged 35.5 MPG. That's better than my 'bird's 29 MPG. And I can put my 11 month old in the back...

Put that under the 'Reasons to move' category.

You know what I think would be sweet... and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. But If they had a "sleeper edition"! Call it an SE or or something that would catch people off guard. Have all the SS power/handling but look like grandma's church goer. No ground effect's 18 inch steelie's w/hubs and dark brown color. I know, I know sounds totally lame, but cops would Never give you a second look.. they are looking for red SS's. And, you would freak out everyone at every stop light. When I was younger I owned a decked out stang, and everyone wanted to race. I'm sure with SS badging its the same thing. Think about how much fun it would be to have that "DIRTY LITTLE SECRET", that catches people off guard!

I spent Tuesday this week at the Miller Motor Sports Park. The venue is called Lapping Days. During the course of the day you get class instruction on driving skills and time on the track with an instructor. During the day as your skills improve you are allowed track time without an instructor in your car. There were cars from GT3's, Shelby's, Lotus's, M5's on down to my stock SS. and I was able to log over three and a half hours of track time on the west track. Incredible experience. I still can't wipe the grin of my face. I have owned many sports cars over the years. None as fun as the SS and the SS was less than half the purchase price of the other cars. I have signed up for another session in August. What a riot............

When I test drove a 1LT last year I thought it was fun. You guys talk about the SS's being fun.... Now I dont even want a 2LT and want a SS but probably won't be able to afford my monthly payments.

PFS, The reason we care about 0 to 60 times is because this is America where many of us still think turns are what are done AFTER the race is over. jst's idea of a sleeper is lacking one thing. Enough oomph to truly surprise someone. 260 h.p. in a light vehicle is nice, but if you really want a sleeper, you need some rubber on the road and torque to leave a lot of that rubber ON the road!

I quit smoking a pack a day, 7 months now, and it was like $120/month. That pays for the SS.

My wife was arguing for a "cheaper" model, but that argument won out. And I'm glad it did for all the obvious reasons.
