SS Auto

Hi guys:

I own 4 HHRs, but not an SS so I am not too familiar with them.

I have a friend looking at a 2010 HHR SS Automatic with 140K miles and he had some questions.

1) As I understand it from searching the SS forum, the SS automatic engine can be brought up to the power of the SS manual with just a tune, is that correct?

2) The tune mentioned above would have minimal effect on the trans life? Obviously it must have some effect otherwise chevy wouldn't have reduced the power?

Thanks
Steve

FYI. A "tune" depended on which one, is most likely going to give you more power than the stock manual SS. There isn't a lot of difference between the stock numbers of manual vs standard. 235/250hp (235 in lower gears or something) vs the 260hp in the manual.
The SS auto trans is generally considered strong enough to handle around 350 hp or so.
