SS Brakes Pads / Discs

I know this has been discussed in multiple threads, but I was hoping for a clearer suggestion. I need new brake pads and rotors on my 08SS without Brembo. It looks like people suggest either the EBC Reds or Hawk pads, but wasn't sure about rotors. Thanks

You'll get 1001 preferences. I've used the stock rotor/pad combo for 30K miles but needed to replace the front pads and rotors at 20K; the pads were gone and per the tech both front rotors were scored. The new OEM replacement rotors got a nice wobble to them within 5K miles so I went with a set of R1 slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads all around. No problems/wobbles since and I made sure the pads were bedded in correctly. If you're only daily driving it on the streets (i.e. no track time) then a set of Napa rotors should suffice, and ceramic pads will cut down on the brake dust the OE pads are famous for.

NAPA makes a nice upgraded OEM rotor for the SS, at a good price. With ceramics, you will chew through rotors faster than pads.

It's just a daily driver, so the Napa ones should work. What model are you guys referencing? They have a high performance line (that seems pretty expensive), ultra premium, or premium. Thanks!

Just buy the OE equal line they have as often the heavy duty or premuium lines are not really much different if at all.

There is little you can do to make a rotor better other than anodize it.

We had a parts store here a buddy worked at. They sold a HD bearing and a standard the only difference was the price and the sticker.

I am just going to go with EBC Red and Bendix rotors. The Hawks are just as good. Just make sure to bed them in as they instruct and you will get much better service out of them.

premiums... again even with these the "lifetime" pads will tear 'em up quick. ultra premium is not necessary, and too pricey
