SS Heated Seat Mod?

Anyone modded the SS seats w/heaters? I would like to use after market heaters but use the factory buttons. Does anyone know if the buttons switch the full load of the heater? Does it have the timer built in or is it separate?

I did this mod on my 2000 F250. The easiest way was to use an early model explorer switch which had the timer built in and carried the entire load. The hard part was the switch was a rectangle which required alot of dremel tooling and filing to shape it correctly so the switch would just snap in.

Anyone have a schematic for a LT w/heaters? If so I can probably figure something out:)

Thanks in advance
Lucky

I have seen a couple of comments indicating that others would like to add heat as well but don't think anyone has actually tried yet.

You may have to blaze your own trail on this one :)

My shop foreman put aftermarket in his G6 last week. The buttons that came with it looked pretty good to me. I will ask him what brand it was.

The brand is Rostra Precision Controls. I don't know if you could put the GM switches with it.

Oh also, an FYI, The instructions are international. NO WORDS, PICTURES ONLY!

OEM Member?

Do we have a member working parts at a GM dealer? I would like to order the factory switches and see how they work.

If you can get hold of a wiring diagram, you might be able to figure out an easy place to pick up the circuit. There appears to be a live circuit and fuse for "heated seats" in the underhood fuse box. So there might be a dead-ended wire under the dash, or better yet at the seat connectors.

I will get you a part number tomorrow and post it. Then you can check your local dealers against internet dealers such as gmpartsdirect.com but remember to factor in the S&H.

Do you happen to have a schematic for the wiring? Do you know if the timer is a separate module or is it built in? Thanks
