SS Oil Consumption

SS Oil Consumption
Does the SS use some oil ? My VW GTI used a quart every 1500 - 2000 miles and my brother's did too. Just curious as I am still interested in buying one.
Anyone have an SS near Greenville, KY ?

That is not a question of the car, brand, model or year but of craftsmanship and build quality. My HHR doesn't have a single leak, ANYWHERE. Honestly this has been the best car in terms of maintenance, that I have ever owned.
My car doesn't consume any oil and I have put 32k miles on in abut 1.5 years and the only issue was the tranny cooler lines rubbed on my Hahn I/C piping and leaked, BAD

Per the folks at GM......
"Oil Consumption
The accepted rate of oil consumption for engines used in the vehicles referenced is 0.946 liter (1 qt) in 3200 km (2000 mi).
Important: This rate only applies to personal use vehicles, under warranty, that are driven in a non-aggressive manner and maintained in accordance with the appropriate maintenance schedule, with less than 58,000 km (36,000 mi), or driven at legal speeds in an unloaded (for trucks) condition.
Important: This rate does not apply to vehicles that are driven in an aggressive manner, at high RPM, high speeds, or in a loaded condition (for trucks). Oil consumption for vehicles driven under these conditions will be more.
Many factors can affect a customer's concern with oil consumption. Driving habits and vehicle maintenance vary from owner to owner. Thoroughly evaluate each case before deciding whether the vehicle in question has abnormal engine oil consumption."
It's always important to check you oil weekly at the very minimum, but in large, SS's and their normally aspirated kin don't have a reputation for using oil.

94K and no oil consumption here - unlike my last car with a Subaru-built engine... It used about about a quart per 4000 miles, all the time, and a lot more if I was autocrossing it.
Something about PCV valves on a Flat 4 equaled siphoning a lot of good oil up into your intake. High revs and high lateral g-forces made it worse.

12000 miles on my HHR and no oil consumption. I had only two cars that used oil, My first, a 56 Ford w 292 Thunderbird engine at nine years old, it used 1 qt/100 mile. yeah a beat engine. The second a 72 Vega Kammback (I bought new) and oil use was 750 mile/qt. at 15000 miles, and was told this was "normal", did an oil consumption test and GM replaced the engine when oil consumption got to 350 miles/qt. The new engine was using oil at 1000 mile/qt. I got rid of the car.
