SS's and Brembos and options ??
SS's and Brembos and options ??
I've been thinking about trading my 06 2lt for an SS. I've been trying to find out about options which doesn't seem easy info to get from a dealer over the phone. However, I just was told by a salesman that the Brembos were standard as of the 09 model year, this isn't true is it? How can you be sure, will the calipers always have the name on them?
Also, other than price and the standard RPD is there really anything different between the 09's and the 10's such as with the engine, tranny or other drive train stuff?
If I do it, I'll be buying one with an automatic.
I'd also like to do the stage 1 kit any differences with it?
Thanks for any info.

Don't know about the Brembo option, nor do I know what RPD means, but one experience I had with my '08 had to do with the Stg. 1 upgrade. When I first had it done, the differece was huge. Power increse was very noticeable. But then I took the car back in to deal with a braking issue, that was a programming fix. They fixed the brakes problem, but I lost about half of my added boost. I took the car back in for a reflash, and it raised the boost quite a bit, but not where it was at it's best. If I could have a do-over, I'd live with the brake issue, and keep the big boost. Of course if you have access to a tuner, it's probably fixable, but I liked keeping everything under warranty.

What kind of boost pressures are stock and what should you expect from the stage 1 upgrade?
I'd prefer to keep it all under warranty also.
I have a 2010 SS. The brembos are part of the optional performance package which also includes the limited slip differential. I'm pretty sure this is only available with the 5 speed. That is why I ordered mine so equipped. Also the performance display(which is now standard) is alot better than I expected. Usually I leave it in digital speedometer mode:easy to see and also has the g-force meter that is pretty cool.
Ummm, I thought the RPD was the "reconfigurable performance display." Which I don't really like the looks of as well as the pillar mounted boost gauge, not to mention the loss of the dash compartment even though it is more informative.

The stock boost depends on alt and temp. but most see 15-17 stock and with the GM turbo upgrade kit it will see on average 20-23 PSI.
The Brembos and LSD are only avail on the 5 speed. THey are good but the stock brakes are more than good enough for hard driving. They are the same as the Solstice Redline and many other GM cars use the same. Infact most weigh more and have very good braking with them.
The Tubo upgrade is the the best thing you can do. It keep the warranty and make a big differance in any SS and even more in the Auto. It also will increase the MPG. I love my upgrade and the piece of mind the warranty has me covered.
