Stolen centercaps!!!
Sure would be coincedence if in the next day or two the guy post a set of caps for some G6 Wheels? And to the therory of the Caps coming from sets of wheels at the wrecker, wouldn't you get more for a complete set of wheels with caps! Hard to Prove, Yes! Piece of *****, Yes!
Bet you don't get an honest reply!!!
I don't like it anymore then you do. However, the manhours it would take to follow him, or his assistants, would far outweigh the benefits.
Kevin,
I agree with you, just throwing out excuses that anyone can use. You and the others would probably reply honestly if the police asked you questions. These people already know how far the cops can go, and not go. Welcome to my world where people lie to me everyday, and most of the time I know it........

One question to you. How do you prove it? Prove that it is stolen property, not a supposition.
You ask him where he gets them, he says none of your business. What do you do then?
I've been doing this for 25+ years. Been there, asked the questions. Is he a thief, maybe. But, prove it. Anyone can accuse anybody of anything. How do you know he may not be recovering them from wrecks, may have a friend in the auto salvage business and is sharing the profits? May be a wheel/tire dealer getting in the stock wheels, owner doesn't want them and he resells the caps. On and on and on. It comes down to one thing, before the State's Attorney will file any kind of charges, you have to have a confession, video evidence or a good eyewitness to the crime. Do you have any of those???
I love armchair police, they have no idea what the job entails. And remember, the police don't charge the guy, they only gather the evidence that is there to gather.

I quit arguing with cops and such 20+ years ago, and i'm not going to start again now. But i will say how about an investigation ? Somethings are so obvious it makes me puke, If a guy is driving a million $ ferrari , lives in a million dollar house and works at taco bell -INVESTIGATE !
Yep it takes time, Yep ya gotta be good at it, To many law enforcement people have come to the same road as yourself, We'll never catch them, There to smart, We won't get a warrant, It'll just be tossed out in court. It's a waste of time. All B.S. Thats not the same thoughts you went on 25 years ago is it ? Ya i did'nt think so . You've been conditioned to have the answer before hearing the question.
And as far as not knowing what the job entails, wrong again elmo. In my family There are 2 retired police officers, and 3 curent members of law enforcement, 70 plus years between them .So i do know abit.
But hey, have a great nite.
Sorry about getting so far off topic guys. But like this guys saying can't get the bad guy because theres to many laws.
Hey Guys,
Statistics show that most Vandalism and Petty Theft as it relates to cars, is usually purpatrated by local teenagers within the area in which they live. Chances are they have been going past your house on a regular basis, and live within a short distance from your house. Check with other people in the area to see if similar crimes have been committed, and then set the little bastards up. Stupid criminals like to visit places repeatedly.

Screaminblk,
Here is the difference. YOU have never been a cop or a criminal investigator. And, CSI doesn't count. It amazes me, if I came into your workplace and told you what your job entailed and and how to do it, you would look incredulous at me and tell me to get out. However, people like you know what my job is and are happy to tell me how to do it because obviously, you are experienced at it and watch a lot of TV.
You have not lived the job, the undercover work, the long hours and dealing with armed idiotic people. You will NEVER know what it entails, though I am sure you would like to know what its like. Playing video games and relatives in blue don't count. Walk the walk for a few years and then come back to comment.

As someone else stated... I'd report it to the local PD, probably Phoenix. But I would try contacting the auto theft detectives, the pawn shop group (I believe they handle the sale of stolen property) or who ever may have direct responsibility. I would present them with ALL the information you have. Who knows, maybe this person is a major player in the "used" auto parts market. Let the LEO's make that decision.
Sometimes, big things/"busts" come from little scraps of info.......and I'm speaking from experience.
