Of course, my '09 SS has the tire pressure monitoring system. A few months ago, my dash started displaying the tire pressures as:
LF: 35
RF: --
LR: 35
RR: 35

Presumably my RF sensor battery died, since the sensors are old. I haven't repaired the issue, but did rotate my tires this weekend. My dash should have updated to say the following:
LF: 35
RF: 35
LR: 35
RR: --

However, the display is unchanged; it still looks like it did pre-rotation. Who can explain this? If the tire sensor is bad, and that tire was moved to a different location on the car, shouldn't the dash display update? Does it take a few ignition cycles for the dash to update? Or could something else be wrong? Or does the system freeze altogether when it detects a bad sensor?

Did you rotate the tires yourself or have a shop do it ? Wouldn't be the 1st time I've heard of rotated tires that did not get rotated. (seen tire guys take all 4 tires off, set them on the floor while they checked the brakes, then forget to rotate before putting the tires back on)

Well, I definitely see how that could be suspicious. But I did the work myself. ;-)

OK. Did you reset or relearn the sensors after you rotated the tires ? If not, then there is the answer. If you didn't reset them, then the car thinks they're still in the old position. (The TPMS system does not reset itself. You have to do it manually)

FYI. Cold tire inflation on the SS is 32 psi. If you have them cold at 35, then they will warm up to around 40 psi on the road. That high a pressure could also cause the TPMS to signal a warning.

FiremanGeorge is correct. The TPMS assigns the serial number of each sensor to a position. The system still thinks that sensor is in the same position unless you tell it where you moved it to (relearn).

You didn't mention if this is after you drove it a few miles. It takes a bit of rolling to wake them up.

The first thing I would do is just reprogram them. Maybe all 4 will work. If the RF still appears dead, it suggest the problem isn't the sensor, right?

My local dealer does it for free. Takes the guy at the desk about 30 seconds. But still I bought a cheapie tool on line, about $7 shipped, I think.

‘09 SS, doesn’t that one have the air out method to relearn the sensors?

I used a $14 tool off eBay. Made it 10x easier than letting the air out.

Wait a minute...so every time I rotate tires, I have to relearn the sensors? That's a dumb design.
