Tired of check engine light!!

I've been a silent member for some time now. Thank you all for your enthusiasm or lack there of for the HHR SS. I've never owned a GM car . I've owned several GM pickups and SUV's. I was a little hesitant about this purchase and so far it has been great. However the check engine light on my 2009 SS with auto tranny keeps coming on every few months. Living in a rural area of California the 55 mile drive to my nearest dealer in "limp mode" is a little annoying to say the least. These are the codes P2199 P0101 P2177. The dealer told me the first one has something to do with turbulent air. The second one has something to do with the MAF sensor. The third one is a lean conditon. The car is completely stock. Any help would be appreciated.

For what it's worth.....if I were wrenchin' on your SS.....I'd start with the MAF issue. Back in the OBD 2 days the engineers of knowledge made a statement along the lines of "start with the lowest number code, resolve that and wait and see if that clears the other issues." A MAF problem could be causing the lean condition.

Stranger makes a valid point. Sometimes addressing one issue fixes the others, too. Good luck with this.

It all has to do with the MAF its most likely a bad sensor. SInce its bad it will sense the air as being turbulent and throw a lean condition. All can be fixed brother the dealer doesnt have much of a choice

Yep, I had many codes popping up having to do with the MAS or MAF (same thing I think) so I picked up a reconditioned one at AutoZone for $80.00 with a $80.00 core charge. I swapped it out right in the AutoZone parking lot and gave them the core back. All of my issues were resolved. $80.00 might be a better deal than driving 55mi (total 110 roundtrip) and sitting around and waiting, that is if you can wait.

That's another one, the K&N seens to send too much air for the MAF. I'm having my MAF relocated to see if it helps.

Keep going back and keep complaining.
I would give them 1 more chance and if not fixed call GM.
Good luck...

A K&N filter doesn't sent too much air. They are just an air filter (and a poor one at that). The K&N issue is oil from it hitting the mass.

While you can take steps to stop it from oiling your mass and causing problems, it's not worth the effort.

I'll I am saying is if you do have a K&N, dump it and clean the mass. See if that fixes the problem.
