Turbo upgrade

Have an 08 HHR SS. The turbo is about shot. Was going to just replace it with a factory one, but seen the Big Wheel Turbo upgrade. Would that turbo just bolt on and fit all the factory connections already on the engine?

I think this is what you're referring to. 2.0T Big Wheel Turbo Upgrade for 2008-2010 Chevy Cobalt SS, Chevy HHR-SS, 2007-2009 Saturn Sky Redline, 2007-2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP | On Sale: $1,195.00

It looks like it bolts right up, you could use the 'contact' button on the web page to be sure. I haven't seen anything about it on this site.

They claim that "Works best with a ECM retune – provides approximately 15% more overall power". Even the GM tune with the stock turbo did very nearly that. Trifecta and HPTuners do even better.

That price is for a rebuild of your own stock turbo. I saw there's a $500 core charge that could apply. I would guess that would be for if your's was non rebuildable.

Yes, I should have noticed that it's for a rebuild. It may be an exchange, so that your car isn't down for quite as long. It probably requires an ECM tune, you should find out if it requires an upgrade to the bosch MAP sensors also.

Yeah, I'm sure it's an exchange deal. Just didn't want the OP to be surprised by that $500 core charge. He did say his turbo was "about shot" so he's looking at a probable core charge.

As far as the Bosch sensors and tuning, I don't know. That's getting above my expertise.

Sorry, I meant OP should ask these questions of the seller, wasn't implying that you should find out. (But you probably knew that)

Speaking of which, OP, what symptoms are telling you that your turbo is shot?
