TWM Short Throw Shifter

This is a duplicate of a post in a different category, but if you did not see it, this is a very nice shifter! Nice tight throw, very solid when combined with the solid bushing shifter mounts to replace the factory rubber mounts. All parts very nicely machined, superb quality.

The installation was smooth and instructions easy to follow (console on HHR SS is a bit easier to remove than the Cobalt pictured in the instructions).

The only hassle in the otherwise smooth installation is the removal of the stock shift knob in order to remove and re-use the shifter boot. After no luck in trying to pry it off as suggested, I resorted to using a gear puller, but still made a mess of the old knob. If I had it to do over, I would either cut the boot slightly to clear the knob, and then sew it up on the inside, or buy a spare boot if available. That way the (undamaged) original shifter could be saved.

You will want the aluminum base bushings also. Shifter is the same as Cobalt/TC.

Love it, plus it looks nice!!

Wow, that looks awesome C2! I have been so tired of the stock shifter lately, especially the knob... I drive a lot and it just iritates the palm of my hand!

It sure looks sweet on there and I can imagine the nice short throw! Nice job!

Do you have photos of your Hurst Shfter to share? Might be worth a thread.

Poked around the Cobalt site for information on the Hurst, B&M and TWM. Didn't find anything negative on the TRW. The other two had mixed reviews, some loving them others, not so much. One (only) opinion from a user with experience in all three.

I have used Hurst, B&M and now the TWM. I have not been happy with any of them until I got the TWM. I am happy with it so far. The shorter height of the shifter really makes a difference in the feel of it. The wighted knob makes a bit of difference as well. Out of the three I have tried I like this one the most

Just ordered my TWM Shifter. Suspect it might get here before the car does. Either way it'll be my first mod.

C2Vette, thanks for the product lead.

i don't have my HHR yet, but i have seen the hurst shifters for the cobalts. now that you proved the cobalt ones work, we can say that they are available. most likely i will get a Hurst shifter, but i am still open to the TWM one.

thanks for the link to your custom performance seat job. there is a chance that mine will come with both just like yours. have a good one.
