well...air filter cover removed and...

i hear the whoosh and turbo whistle a tad more but not enough to keep it off (muffler kinda blocks the sound). didnt have any codes kick up . did seem to effect the freshly cleaned k&n . took it down freeway. didnt seem to lose boost pressure either..

to each their own i guess. guess it depends on temps, barometric pressures, rain/sun, elevations, and tide levels hahaha... unfortunately my car gets massively dust covered at work daily, all week. so i'll be putting the cover back on in 20 minutes after i finish this burger

well now that its back on ... i will tell if its quieter or not.. but like i said work sucks with dust.. not only dust but limestone dust even at 90+mph unless u wash the car its stuck on . maybe once it comes back from body shop next week i'll take it back off. who knows :)

so are you guys simply just taking the lid off
wouldnt pulling in more heat slow it down or does the intercooler do that good of a job?

the only difference ive noticed is the awesome sound....i think the intercooler pretty much does its job. and if you have an upgraded intercooler its probably even better. the turbo heats up the air to like 400-500 degrees (I think). so wether the intake temp is 30 or 100 degrees it doesnt really matter IMO

Cover on is your best bet. I'm sure it sounds awesome with it off but you want the most dense charge you can get feeding into the turbo. the colder the air is feeding the turbo the better off you are. its like making your car run on the hottest day every day without it.

so... what we need to do is come up with a bigger aluminum tube from factory inlet in wheel well into the factory air cleaner housing? kinda like when you change the i.c tubes like the top one for example you go from a "crushed looking plastic circle" to a rounder tube of different material

Really depends on how u drive your car...if your sitting in traffic and the IC is heat soaking its not going to make any difference..cruising up and down the Blvd? No problem....trying to win street races ( money) or a night at the drags...sure, close it.If you want to go best bets, isolate the intake air to the hood ( scoop) and use the excess flow to draw heat away from the engine compartment...two birds etc etc
Most people with most types of driving will never notice the difference and for most people theres still plenty of power there,,everything else is bragging rights..

IMO lid on or of, you will not notice a difference in any power, every other intake for this car basically is just a filter in the engine bay, 2 companies make CAI for this car, K&N and CIA. ive had my filter off for about 8 months and im not planning on putting it back on, i see no draw backs and it makes the car sound 232947562349876 times better

I'm sure you mean the lid. I'm doing basically the same thing. It might push the temps up 10*. I'm not drag racing, so no noticeable ill effect for me.
